In an article for OpenDemocracy, Andrea Teti argues that despite the brief sigh of relief in the money markets and the popular jubliation at Berlusconi’s resignation, it would be a mistake to think that the ‘Berlusconi Era’ is over: the media mogul is determined to fight back, and the clientelistic politics which lead Italy to the perfect storm of this crisis will not suddenly disappear. While his presence in government constituted an obstacle to serious reform, his grip on the media and his influence in parliament caution against optimism.
