Andrea Teti is author of a chapter on the politics of civil society in the Middle East for a volume entitled “Les sociétés civiles dans le monde musulman” and edited by Pierre-Jean Luizard and Anna Bozzo for La Decouverte (Paris). In his contribution, Teti focuses on the way different conceptions of civil society impact upon policies and upon the debate over democratic transitions itself. Overall, the volume examines the rise in the ‘demand for civil society’ in the Muslim-majority world, with a particular emphasis on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
