Nikola Hynek, Fellow at the ECIA, is Research Fellow at the Institute of International Relations in Prague and Assistant Professor at Graduate Programme in Security Studies of the Charles University, Prague. He is also Visiting Researcher at The Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies, Columbia University, New York, Assistant Professor at the Metropolitan University Prague, and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Aberdeen. Previously he has been Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Assistant Professor at the Masaryk University in Brno. Mr. Hynek obtained his PhD from the Department of Peace Studies of the University of Bradford. He holds a M.A. in IR and Global Security (with distinction, Plymouth), a MSc in Biology, Geography and Psychology (Brno) and a B.A. in Political Science, IR and European Studies (Brno). He is referee for academic journals such as: Journal of International Relations and Development, Security Dialogue, International Peacekeeping. Mr. Hynek has also worked as an adviser and researcher on EU-funded projects, and as a private consultant. Since October 2010 he has been Research Leader for the Centre for International Security (CIS IIR).
