Caroline Fournet, Fellow at the ECIA, is Associate Professor and Rosalind Franklin Fellow in the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology at the University of Groningen. She has a Master Degree from the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law in Lund, a DEA from the Institute of Higher European Studies in Strasbourg and a PhD in Public International Law from the University of Leicester. Prof. Fournet previously held a Senior Lectureship at Exeter School of Law. She is editor of “Human Remains and Violence: An Interdisciplinary Journal” and member of the Editorial Committee of Studies in International and Comparative Criminal Law (Hart Publishing) and of theInternational Network of Genocide Scholars (INOGs).Her research focuses on comparative and international criminal law.  Her current research includes an ERC funded interdisciplinary project on corpses of mass violence and genocide as well as several comparative works on international criminal law and justice. She is the author of three monographs: International Crimes – Theories, Practice and Evolution (Cameron May, 2006); The Crime of Destruction and The Law of Genocide: Their Impact on Collective Memory (Ashgate, 2007); Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity: Misconceptions and Confusion in French Law and Practice (Hart, 2013).
