Cristina Flesher Fominaya, Fellow at the ECIA, is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Sociology of the University of Aberdeen and a Senior Marie Curie Fellow at National University Ireland, Maynooth. She has an MA and PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA summa cum laude in International Relations from the University of Minnesota. She won numerous international scholarships and prizes including the National Science Foundation Fellowship, the German Marshall Fellowship and the Leo Lowenthal Prize for Outstanding Paper in Culture and Critical Theory awarded by the University of California, Berkeley. She was previously Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Political Science in the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and a visiting scholar at Georgetown University. Her work has been published in Contemporary Social Science, Sociological Inquiry, Sociology Compass, International Review of Social History, South European Society and Politics, Mediterráneo Económico, and International Feminist Journal of Politics. She is co-founder and co-editor of Interface: a journal for and about social movements and is a member of the Editorial Board of Sociological Research Online. She is also co-founder and co-chair of the Council for European Studies (Columbia University) Research Network on European Social Movements, and serves as an expert evaluator for the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, 2010 National Research Plan and the Government of Ireland’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Peer Review Process 2010/2011.
