Lihong Zhang, Senior Fellow at the ECIA, is Full Professor of Civil Law, Roman Law and Comparative Law at the East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai, where he is also Director of the Research Center of Roman Law and European Law and Vice-Director of Civil Law Research Center. Prof. Zhang has a Bachelor of Law and a Master of Law from the China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing, a PhD in Roman Law from the University of Roma “La Sapienza” and a Post-Doc from the Panthéon Sorbonne University of Paris. Prof. Zhang holds positions in Chinese academy as Vice General Secretary of China’s National Society of Civil Law, Director of China’s National Society of Comparative Law, Standing Director of China’s National Society of European Law, as well as membership of international academy in the International Editorial Board of Comparative Legal History (Hart Publishing, Oxford), Official Journal of the European Society of Comparative Legal History, and in the Academy of European Private Lawyers. He has been Fellow at Asian Law Institute of National University of Singapore, visiting scholar at the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme de Nantes, Humboldt University of Berlin and “Tor Vergata” University of Rome. Prof. Zhang published 17 books (10 co-edited) and more then 80 articles in Chinese and international academic journals. He is frequently invited to deliver academic speeches at international symposiums and acts as legal assistant for many international bodies.
